Southern University Board member, alumnus Tony Clayton to address SUNO graduates

Antonio “Tony” Clayton, a member of the Southern University System Board of Supervisors, will serve as the spring commencement speaker at Southern University New Orleans on Saturday, May 12. The ceremony begins at 4 p.m. in the Keifer Lakefront Arena.

A managing partner of the Clayton, Fruge and Ward Law Firm, Clayton served the public for a number of years. Among the positions were prosecutor in East Baton Rouge Parish; special prosecutor for the 18th Judicial District Attorney’s Office; and district court judge at the 19th Judicial District Court.

Clayton is a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association, Baton Rouge Bar Association, Louisiana District Attorney Association, Southern University Law Center Alumni, the American Inns of Court, and a non-voting member of the Post-Secondary Education Commission. He holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Southern University and a juris doctorate from the Southern University Law Center.
