South African Ambassador honored at March meeting of Board of Supervisors

The Southern University System Board of Supervisors at its March meeting honored retiring South African Ambassador Mninwa J. Mahlangu for his years of service in the U.S. and connection to Southern University. The ambassador delivered the spring 2017 commencement address at Southern University Baton Rouge. He received an honorary doctorate during the ceremony.

The Southern University System Board of Supervisors today held committee meetings and full board meeting on Feb. 21-22 at Southern University Shreveport. In one of its first actions, the Board approved the extension of the contract of Dawson Odums, head football coach at Southern University Baton Rouge.

Southern University System Board approves Centers of Excellence in cybersecurity, federal procurement

The Southern University System Board of Supervisors today approved a memorandum of understanding to develop two Centers of Excellence — one in cybersecurity training and certification, and one in federal procurement services. The MOU is between the Southern University System and the Southern University Foundation Enterprise partners to develop, operate and manage the two programs under the Southern University Center for Corporate Strategy Solutions, or SUCCESS.
