The Jaguar Nation gears up for the 19th Annual Radiothon - Thursday, October 15, 2009

The Jaguar Nation gearing up for the 19th Annual Southern University System Radiothon, set for Friday, October 16, 2009.  This annual homecoming tradition will be held from

7 a.m. until 7 p.m. at Citadel Broadcasting (650 Wooddale Blvd.) and will be aired live on three stations powered by Citadel Broadcasting – KQXL 106.5 FM, WEMX 94.1 FM, and WXOK 1460 AM.

All proceeds from the 2009 Radiothon will support the “Scholars of Promise Initiatives,” which will place ‘Students 1st’ in terms of scholarships, assistantships and youth programs. The Scholars of Promise Initiatives is a general scholarship fund governed by an independent advisory board composed of SU faculty and staff.  In addition, the SUS Foundation will waive all fees associated with the Radiothon.

"The Southern University System Foundation is extremely pleased with the support that the community has provided past Radiothon’s, and this year we are taking a slightly different approach," said Executive Director of the SU System Foundation, Dr. Ernie T. Hughes.  “We want to make certain that students are first; therefore we will make sure that we are accountable for all proceeds and that students ultimately receive the benefits.”

Online donations can be made by logging on to www.sus.edu and clicking on the SU Foundation link.  Live streaming of the Radiothon will be accessible via internet at www.q106dot5.com, www.max94one.com, www.heaven1460.com. Transportation will be provided throughout the day from the Smith-Brown Memorial Student Union to Citadel Broadcasting.
